Do you remember…
…your child’s favorite book? Which books did your child bring you night after night to read before bed? Was it Curious George or Cat in the Hat? Do you remember which books your father read to you? Did he always get the prince’s voice right but the princess’s wrong? Do you remember Toad and Frog from The Wind in the Willows?
Do you remember when your child became reader? Was the first book your child read cover to cover one you’d read to him a thousand times before?
What about the child whose parent isn't home at bedtime?
What about the child whose father is serving his country in Afghanistan? What about the boy, living with his grandmother while his mother is incarcerated? What about the mother who read to her daughter every night until she deployed with the US Navy? Those children, and those parents, separated from one another by oceans and continents, or simply by circumstance, are the reason behind the mission of United Through Reading®.
We remember the children whose parents aren’t home to read them a story before bed, and we work to so that storytime can happen even for children whose parents aren’t home.
We connect families through good books. United Through Reading offers parents who are separated from their children the opportunity to be recorded on DVD reading storybooks from more than 250 recording locations around the world.
Join us to celebrate those parents who take the time to read a bedtime story no matter where in the world they are at the Storybook Ball 2010. Tickets may be purchased through this website or by calling (858) 481-7323. Interested in more information? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
